Let's keep moving backwards in time. I think Birth of the Cool is the only pre-rock era album I own. If you were looking to start your Miles Davis education, this would most definitely not be the place to start. But it is his opener, so here it is. (I was actually looking for a video of "Venus de Milo", which I think is the best song on the album, but this was the best one I could find)

I probably prefer Budo, as well as Venus de Milo, but this is the first track you here on his first album, so it's obviously pretty significant. Even if it wasn't really some calculated shit, just because of how the album was released...still.
This was the first jazz album I ever heard.
It's not bad, but it's obviously very unrepresentative. This is Miles doing the music that my grandmother likes. It's also really unfortunate that it ends with "Darn that Dream" (shudder).
