Seriously, if I'm putting together an all-time dream band, it would be fronted by Sam Cooke, for my money one of the best pure vocalists that modern music has yet had.
I'm just honored you took time to share your Sam Love with the rest of the world. He was not only a dynamic artist, but an industry pioneer, and, as Aretha called him, a "Prince of a man."
A Sam Cooke song was the first song I heard, as a child, that truly moved me and showed me the entire world a great song can possess. Indeed, the first time a song gave me chills was a Sam Cooke song (Cupid, btw), so in many ways it is a first love of mine.
Feel free to hang out with the Cookies in Clarksdale this August at the Sunflower Festival (he'll be the focused artist) and at the 6th Annual Sam Cooke Tribute in Los Angeles in January of 2010. I'll post details on www.OurUncleSam.com when they're finalized.
