I will give Mayer Hawthorne...at least one thumb. The album was much more alright than I sort of expected it to be. Sure, he somewhat exists (at least as a semi-popular entity)based off the "white dude doing soul" thing, but the shit ain't bad.
It's always been difficult to take a falsetto, R&B-singing white guy seriously, and now it's pretty much impossible thanks to "Flight of the Conchords."
Yeah, I remember I saw the album cover somewhere on my interweb travels a few weeks ago and immediately said: lol. And then I continued traveling the interweb. But then I was shown one of his videos (I think it was the "Maybe So Maybe No" one) the other day and it intrigued me enough to go out and buy (okay, steal) the album, which I now dig.

I should say that, despite the FOTC thing, I really liked this one. Is this an album worth owning?
Own or "own"? I'd say it's definitely worth a download. It's a pretty nice album.
(All of the download links I could find are cold. So, ups?)
no no no
I'll try and upload the thing...today or tomorrow, peoples.
OR DREW CAN DO IT.
(or I can. whatever)
Oh Dan, educate us with some Lightnin' Hopkins, which you will have to convince us to even listen to.
(I posted a link in the one thread.)
